Feasibility of evanescent wave interferometer immunosensors for pesticide detection: chemical aspects
نویسندگان
چکیده
A waveguide Mach-Zehnder Interferometer (MZI) immunosensor has been developed which can detect, in a direct way, a minimum average layer growth thickness of the analyte of 2X 10e3 nm (bound mass, I’=lX low4 fig cm-“). The design and fabrication of the sensor and the experimental set-up are aimed at decreasing the detection limit. A flow cell has been designed and incorporated into the set-up to allow a high mass-transport rate of the analyte molecules to the sensor surface, in this way decreasing the net response time. Results for the immunosystem cr-hSA/hSA are presented. All improvements have been done as a first step towards the use of the MZI immunosensor in the direct detection of low coverages of pesticides with an expected layer growth of 2 x 10e4 nm. Feasibility of optical waveguide immunosensors for pesticide detection: physical aspects
The feasibility of detecting small molecules such as pesticides using optical evanescent-wave sensors is discussed with emphasis on the Mach-Zehnder sensor and a newly developed sensor called a ‘critical’ sensor. For direct detection of an estimated average pesticide layer growth of 2X 10m4 nm, the sensitivity of the Mach-Zehnder sensor is almost adequate (lx lo-” nm within one hour), whereas t...

متن کاملEvanescent-Wave Gas Sensing Using an Integrated Thermal Light Source
The last years showed an increased request for miniaturised, CMOS-compatible gas detectors. In contrast to sensors utilizing metal-oxide chemical interfaces, optical strategies are potentially faster and more robust. Recently we demonstrated CO2 detection by evanescent-wave absorption in the mid-infrared using a combination of an external laser source and silicon waveguides based on CMOS techno...

In this paper a method for digitally recording four quarter-reference-wave-holograms (by CCD) in a Mach-Zehnder interferometer setup, and reconstructing the object wave-front by numerical method is presented. The terms of direct transmission, auto-correlation and conjugate wave in the four wave reconstruction are cancelled out and only one original object wave is left after overlapping. Reconst...
متن کاملDetection of Fuel Adulteration in Real Time Using Optical Fiber Sensor and Peripheral Interface Controller
Detection of fuel adulteration in real time is the most important need of the world as it generates the hazardous effects on the environment, living and nonliving things. Various automotive users and fuel providers may mix kerosene in petrol and diesel. Adulterated fuel increases air pollution, as well as reduces the performance of vehicle engines. Such a malpractice in fuel is prevailing becau...
